Social Support Services for Educational Success Program

The Social Support Services for Educational Success (SSSES) program serves at-risk adolescents ages 12-17 to assist them with remaining in school or supporting youth with returning to school. The program is available at the following schools:

  • Beaumont Middle School
  • Hosford Middle School
  • Gregory Heights Middle School
  • Joseph L. Meek High School
  • Marshall High School
  • Sellwood Middle School

Primary Services

Case Management to assess strengths and challenges, develop a plan of action, and connect students and their families to community resources including:

  • Emergency housing
  • Energy assistance
  • Legal assistance
  • Mental health treatment and counseling
  • Public assistance and benefits
  • Health services

Advocacy aimed at helping students achieve educational success including:

  • Enrollment in public schools and assisting with school schedule
  • High school credit retrieval
  • Assisting students with navigating the educational system
  • Bridging communication between schools and families
  • Information on GED or alternative education programs

Groups that provide social skill building and support school retention efforts including:

  • Gender-specific boys and girls empowerment groups
  • Middle to high school transition groups
  • Multi-cultural and diversity development groups
  • Groups supporting children of incarcerated parents
