Impact Northwest Overview
Mission
Impact Northwest’s mission is to help people achieve and maintain self-sufficiency and to prevent and alleviate the effects of poverty.
We Believe
All people have the right to:
- Personal dignity
- Adequate food, housing, health care and education
- Be treated with fairness and equality
Poverty must be addressed at both a personal and political level.
Community partnerships and innovation are essential to achieving our mission.
We believe in the importance of individual and community self-determination and interdependence. Accordingly, we provide education, opportunity and hope to our clients through services designed to foster their ability to be self-sufficient, active contributing members of the community. We strive to provide culturally-relevant services that include outreach and partnerships with ethnic communities, celebrations of ethnic heritage, and language translation services.
Our Vision
By working with schools, businesses, faith communities, other community-based organizations, and governmental agencies, we create a safety net and springboard for community members to improve their quality of life and achieve independence.
Who We Serve
In the 2008-2009 fiscal year, we served over 60,000 individuals. Our clients include low-income children, youth, adults with disabilities, seniors, and families. Working with schools, businesses, faith communities, community-based organizations, and governmental agencies, we create a safety net and springboard for residents in Multnomah, Clark, Washington and Clackamas Counties seeking to improve their quality of life.
History in the Community
Impact Northwest was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1966 by SE Portland residents and four neighborhood associations.
